iOS News – Device adoption rate

iOS 8 is being adopted quite quickly on iPhone 5 – (about 20% now and as long as you have 1GB space for download and approximately 5GB space for install). As usual, the updates will come quickly to Apple devices but as of right now, iOS 7 is still the most used version. Will keep you guys posted after a month or so.

Keep a lookout for Android L rumoured coming Early Oct.
It is a Google’s next major release with the much anticipated “Material Design” – which means a totally overhauled  notification system, makeover for  home screen, lock screen, Quick Settings pull-down menu, main settings page and even the onscreen navigation button and new system widgets. Expect performance upgrades with the new runtime using ART and no longer Dalvik as well as high level graphics support. Project Volta to enhance battery life will also be released then.

Update:
Apple claims that 46% of iPhone users have  upgraded to iOS 8 but that is extremely misleading. Even anecdotal evidence (i.e. the people from my office didn’t upgrade to iOS 8).

According to Fiksu, about 25% of the iOS consumers it tracks via their use of apps and games that integrate the Fiksu platform, have upgraded, similar to the uptake of iOS 5, but lower than the 35%  that had adopted iOS 6 over a similar time scale and over 45% that upgraded to iOS 7.
